"We must give up war thinking and give way to peace, which requires the stronger participation of international organizations, as well as a greater capacity for initiative on the part of Europe," stated the state secretary. Pietro Parolin took part in the presentation of the latest book of Pope Francis: the book against the War - Courage to Build Peace.
Parolin declared, "There is a terrible war going on in Ukraine, which is striking at the heart of Europe and Christian Europe." He added that he does not want to review the decision of some countries that sent weapons to Ukraine, because the latter, he added, has the right to defend itself against attack.
"All I'm saying is that limiting aid to sending weapons means a weak response , instead of rigid positions, creativity and courage are needed for lasting peace," said Pietro Parolin.
Lavrov: NATO should not supply more weapons to Ukraine if it wants to solve the crisis.
In an interview published on Saturday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called on NATO member states not to supply more weapons to the Kiev government "if they really want to solve the crisis in Ukraine."
Speaking to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, he stated that the "special operation" in Ukraine continues to go according to plan, and we will achieve all our goals despite the resistance of our adversaries.
Lavrov stated that "there are talks almost every day between the Russian and Ukrainian sides, but progress is not easy." For this, he partly blamed "the belligerent rhetoric and inflammatory actions of the Western supporters of the Kiev government".
