Oleksiy Danilov, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), sharply criticized Hungary's position regarding Russia's war against Ukraine, the Transcarpathian weekly Kárpátinfo
Danilov believes that the Hungarian authorities knew about the preparation of the aggression against Ukraine. The RNBO secretary is convinced that Hungary also had its own territorial interests.
– The same Hungary that openly declares its cooperation with Russia. Moreover, Putin warned that there would be an attack on our country. They can see your point.
He thought he could take some of our territory. We will see what the outcome of the war will be for this country
Oleksiy Danilov threatened our country.
Earlier, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereschuk also accused Hungary of secretly dreaming of Transcarpathia.
– There is a very small difference between the official rhetoric in Budapest and the openly pro-Russian position. Why? Because they want to buy Russian gas at a discount? Or because they are silently dreaming of our Transcarpathia? - asked Irina Vereschuk. In his outburst, the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister also had a few words for the Hungarian people.
"What about the Hungarian people?" Do they want to be the ones stabbing us in the back while we're miserable? Why? For a little Russian alms? he ranted.
At the same time, the claims of Irina Vereschuk and Oleksiy Danilov are equally unfounded.
In the meantime, there is nothing to support the statement that the Hungarian government has predicted anything about the plans of Russian President Vladimir Putin, nor that our country has any territorial claims in Transcarpathia. On the day the war broke out and since then, the Hungarian government has repeatedly stated that Hungary clearly stands by Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty. None of the press products quoting Oleksiy Danilov's statement was able to report anything about what the secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) is basing his bombastic statements on.
