The Brussels sanctions package would completely destroy the security of the Hungarian energy supply, stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs, checking in from Tashkent airport to react the sixth Brussels sanctions package .

"This sanctions package would provide for the prohibition of crude oil deliveries from Russia to Europe, namely with a fairly short deadline, starting from the end of next year in the case of Hungary," said Péter Szijjártó. He added: Hungary's energy supply is currently secured and on a stable footing.

However, this sanctions package would completely destroy the security of Hungary's energy supply

stated the foreign minister.

Szijjártó explained:

this is not a question of lack of political will, but quite simply of this physical, geographical reality.

The minister also said that the Brussels sanctions package cannot be responsibly supported in this form.

"Hungary would only be able to agree to these measures if the transportation of crude oil by pipeline would be an exception to the restrictions," said Szijjártó.
