Nothing new under the sun. Even after the election, the parliamentary left remained the same enemy of the people as it was before. This was also voiced in the Parliament recently.

So far, it has been heard from left-wing expressions that it would suit them if the price of fuel were HUF 7-800, joining the Brussels oil embargo plans. Márton Gyöngyösi from Jobbik put it bluntly that the sanctions leading to high fuel and energy prices are good and effective. And Benedek Jávor emphasized that the sanctions will certainly hurt, especially for those countries that are closely dependent on Russia, as we are. And Máté Kocsis also recalled a left-wing blog post in the Parliament, which specifically underlined that the embargo must hurt us a little.

Gotta be damned if it can be avoided. I mean, according to sane thinkers.

It can be seen that the speakers are almost rubbing their palms that something bad will happen to Hungary. Specifically, with the Hungarian people to pay more, to lose their jobs, to increase unemployment in line with the double-digit rate of the period of the Gyurcsány-Bajna governments. They can secretly hope that the people will turn against the government, that the worsening conditions will overthrow Viktor Orbán. That is why they support Brussels.

They didn't want anything good even before the elections, and now they can't come up with any creative measures to protect the interests of the people either. If they want to at all, which is a question.

What is good for them is what is good for Brussels.

And the extent to which the owners of the above statements walk in the same shoes as the members of parliament is a good example of the kind of accusations that, for example, György László Lukács from Jobbik presented in his parliamentary speech. According to him, the government "was given 12 years to somehow reduce energy dependence". He is not happy that Hungary did best with the Russian source. This is also only on the table now because a war unexpectedly broke out in the neighborhood, something that has not been seen since human memory.

The socialist Zita Gurmai salted the minds of the public with the following: "let's start the transformation of the energy sector and not just criticize the embargoes". Even Gurmai knows that what he says is a slap in the face to the voters. It can only be implemented within five to ten years and will definitely lead to higher fuel prices. Whereas, if we succeed through the criticism of the embargo, which there is a chance of - see the Ursula von der Leyen-Orbán meeting - then we can keep the overhead reduction and cheaper fuel.

As for cooperation with Brussels, as Péter Szijjártó stated, "Hungary has supported the five Brussels sanctions packages so far. However, guaranteeing Hungary's energy supply is a red line. Acceptance of this package from Brussels would mean several hundred million HUF expenses for Hungary due to the need for the technical conversion of petroleum refineries. An operation that would take at least five years, and only one aspect of its outcome would be certain, namely that the crude oil purchased afterwards would be more expensive than what we currently buy."

Máté Kocsis added:

"This sanctions policy is a nuclear bomb for utility reduction, the economy and fuel prices. There is no other word for it. That is why the path the government is on is the right one."

And that is precisely why what the left demands is wrong and anti-Hungarian. As they have always done.

Unfortunately, we hope in vain: if it is left, then there is still nothing new under the sun.
