According to the Chinese president, the cease-fire should be urgently called off, but he warned the European states about the "Cold War mentality".

Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke on the phone with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron for an hour and a half on Tuesday, and French and Chinese sources reported the conversation with different accents.

According to a statement from the Elysée Palace, the two heads of state assured each other that they are committed to preserving Ukraine's territorial unity and independence, and agreed that it is urgent to reach a ceasefire.

The two states also agreed that all kinds of humanitarian aid provided to the Ukrainian people should be supported, the statement says.
