In accordance with international practice, the civilian national security services in Hungary will also come under the control of the prime minister, reports Magyar Nemzet.

According to the article, prevention, i.e. the Office for the Protection of the Constitution (AH), was under the control of the Minister of the Interior, while intelligence, i.e. the Information Office (IH), was under the control of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In the new structure, in addition to the AH and the IH, the National Security Service (NBSZ) and the Terrorism Information and Crime Analysis Center (TIBEK) will also come under the authority of the Prime Minister.

Reacting to partial information that had been leaked in the press for days, several people mentioned an unprecedented concentration of power, but if we take a look at international practice, it becomes clear that similar regulations have been adopted in many countries, reports Magyar Nemzet.

Among other things, the task of the German Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND) is to collect information relevant to foreign policy and security policy and make it available to the federal government in the form of reports and analyses. As a federal agency, the BND falls under the jurisdiction of the Federal Chancellor's office. In France, the National Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Coordination (Conseil national du renseignement, CNRLT) established in 2017 is part of the presidential office. The task of the presidential body is to coordinate the general work of the intelligence agencies and to direct the agency's fight against terrorism through the National Counter-Terrorism Center (Centre National de Contre-Terrorisme, CNCT).

In Italy, too, the Prime Minister's Office includes the Information Protection Department (Dipartimento delle Informazioni per la Sicurezza, DIS). The task of the office, which was established in 2007, includes the protection of state secrets, the coordination and administration of data collected by secret services.

The department is part of the larger Italian intelligence system under the Prime Minister's Office, whose other members are: the Secretary of State for Intelligence under the Prime Minister's Office (if appointed), the Inter-ministerial Committee for the Defense of the Republic (Comitato Interministeriale per la Sicurezza della Repubblica, CISR), the Foreign Intelligence and Security Agency (Agenzia informazioni e sicurezza esterna, AISE), and the Internal Intelligence and Security Agency (Agenzia informazioni e sicurezza interna, AISI).

In the United Kingdom, national defense and intelligence in the form of the National Security Secretariat and the Joint Intelligence Organization are also part of the Prime Minister's Cabinet Office.

In the United States, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) reports directly to the President. The director leading ODNI is also a member of the National Security Council, which is directly part of the White House.

The list is by no means complete, but it clearly shows that the new Hungarian regulation is in line with international practice, Magyar Nemzet wrote on its website.

2022Plusz: It is very important to add to all of this that today masses of information and disinformation come and go, the number one leader must be informed about the developments first hand. If someone were to ask why this was not the case until now.

Because there was no war until now!
