So far, more than 875,000 one percent declarations have been received electronically by the tax office. There is still time until May 20, until then churches, the National Talent Program and civil organizations can be offered a total of HUF 50 billion - András Tállai informed MTI.
Pursuant to the government's decision, churches and non-governmental organizations can count on one percent lost due to the family tax refund
- highlighted the State Secretary responsible for parliamentary affairs of the Ministry of Finance. This amount will be received by the affected parties, as it will be reimbursed by the state as a budget subsidy. Therefore, the parents can even dispose of 1+1 percent of the tax to be refunded to them - concluded the state secretary.
Now it is also worthwhile for those who have never done so to dispose of a percentage of their taxes
András Tállai stressed. As he said:
the coronavirus epidemic, the war and the energy crisis did not spare civil organizations and churches either, they also put them in a difficult financial situation. The data so far are encouraging, many people have taken advantage of the opportunity, because so far 10 percent more people have offered one percent of their tax than at the same time last year - underlined the state secretary.
According to András Tállai, the magnitude of the possible help may exceed last year's as well, since every year more and more people have their taxes paid.
In 2021, the amount that could be offered was HUF 43 billion, of which HUF 20.7 billion went directly to NGOs, churches and the National Talent Program based on the donations. Last year - 140,000 more than in 2020 - 2.3 million people offered one percent of their taxes.
The 1+1 percent of the tax can be decided until May 20, and the tax to be paid must be settled by that date, stated the state secretary. Declarations can be sent to the tax office in countless ways; the simplest: with a few clicks in the e-sja system, and nothing else is required for this, just a customer portal, which more than five million already have, he suggested.
András Tállai reminded that the church and National Talent Program donations made last year are also valid this year.
If the individual does not withdraw his decision from last year or nominate another beneficiary, the tax office will automatically take measures to ensure that a percentage of the person concerned goes to the previously selected church or the National Talent Program, he explained. On the other hand, civil beneficiaries still have to make the donation every year - he recalled, adding that the tax office also helps with this, since on its website private individuals can find a list of civil organizations that can receive a percentage of the offered tax.
