Prime Minister Viktor Orbán made an extraordinary announcement late yesterday afternoon on his social media page. He emphasized that the government sworn in on Tuesday got to work immediately.

"We didn't waste a single minute because there's a war going on next door. A war that no one can see the end of yet," he added.

Hungary must stay out of this war and protect the safety of families. He stated: this war is a constant threat to Hungary. "It puts our physical security at risk and endangers the energy supply and financial security of the economy and families."

He continued: "We see that the war and the Brussels sanctions have led to a huge economic upheaval and price increases. The world is on the verge of an economic crisis," the prime minister emphasized.

Viktor Orbán announced: using the authority granted by the Basic Law, the government will declare a state of war from midnight on Tuesday.

This allows the cabinet to respond immediately and protect families in every way possible.

The prime minister added that he will also provide information on the government's first decisions during the day on Wednesday.
