According to the Pécs City Hall faction of Fidesz, the county seat of Baranya is in serious trouble, so they called on the city's mayor, Attila Péterffy (Pécs Jövője - Öt Torony), to "finally start working".
In its statement sent to MTI, the representative group wrote: Pécs is "dancing on the edge of bankruptcy", the quality of public services has plummeted, local buses are regularly missing, roads are of poor quality, and public areas are unkempt.
They put it this way: "The left-wing leadership of Pécs spends the money of the people of Pécs in the order of hundreds of millions on propaganda" and spends millions on "good-for-nothing concepts instead of real work."
According to Fidesz, the leadership is showing signs of disintegration, as "the leading officials and key people, such as the mayor's chief of staff or the city's chief architect, are leaving the town hall one after the other".
They added that it could be expected that "Attila Péterffy and his team will push Pécs to the brink of inoperability".
The opposition group in the Pécs town hall believes that "the mayor is snobbish and, apart from apparent measures, only hundreds of millions of public funds are shoveled out into the pockets of cronies (.) and friendly advisers, without any results".
In the announcement, they called on Attila Péterffy to "stop the unnecessary hundred million payments to his friends and his hundred million propaganda machine", because the people of Pécs do not need expensive and meaningless concepts, but "real city management".
