Mol asks customers to always show their license when paying at gas stations, so they can change the amount of the purchase to the official price at the cash register, the company pointed out in its statement on Friday.
According to the company's information, the counters on the well posts display the market price for every refueling, but Hungarian customers must pay a lower amount after presenting the sales license at the cash register.
"According to the announcement of the Hungarian government, from Thursday midnight, only cars with Hungarian license plates and driving licenses can buy EVO 95 gasoline and diesel fuel at the official price at Mol," they wrote.
They also indicated: consumers can prove that they are entitled to buy official-priced fuel by presenting their license, but in the coming days, the company will also approve purchases based on Hungarian license plates in order to smoothly introduce the measure.
There is no change in the upper volume limits for fuel purchases, which is still a maximum of 100 liters per day per vehicle, of which a maximum of 20 liters can be filled in a standard can.
The legislation also defines the exact scope of those entitled: at the official price, you can refuel with vehicles with a Hungarian license plate and a total weight of less than 7.5 tons or with agricultural machinery. During payment, Mol employees change the market price of refueling to the amount corresponding to the official price using a bar code.
The official price of fuel will still be displayed on the information columns visible from the road.
The announcement quotes Péter Ratatics, the executive director responsible for consumer services of the Mol group, who explained: they are confident that the measure will reduce the pressure on border wells, which is definitely good news for the population.
He also sees it as encouraging that, with the new rule, domestic fuel demand may decrease by approximately 15 percent in June, so that Mol can guarantee Hungary's security of supply.
