The Metropolitan Municipality is today an over-politicized and disorganized organization, believes former mayor István Tarlós, who, Magyar Hírlap , believes that the city administration is emphatically and consciously hostile to the government. Therefore, he cynically considers the valuable investments obtained from it to be a failure, and if he places the financing of all kinds of optional actions before the mandatory tasks, it can easily lead to bankruptcy.
"The epidemic really made a lot of things difficult, on the other hand, all sorts of accusations can be made about the epidemic without any foundation. It cannot be denied that the capital only pursues large projects launched by us, its own initiative is not in this category. If MSZP's Tüttő Kata were to be removed from the system, the city operation would conceivably collapse within a short time. As far as you can see behind the scenes, the Metropolitan Municipality is today an over-politicized and disorganized organization. The capital currently lives mostly on the goodwill of the opposition media. It is not apparent what concept or algorithm it is based on. By the way, I already predicted before the epidemic: for five years, the explanation for all deficiencies and errors will be the same. Either the former city administration or the government." István Tarlós said about the changes since the fall of 2019.
"I am not claiming that Budapest's financial situation has always been easy, but if the city administration is emphatically and consciously hostile to the government, it results in a difficult situation. And if you place the financing of all kinds of optional actions before the mandatory tasks, it can easily lead to bankruptcy. Even today, Budapest receives valuable investments from the government, which the mayor cynically calls a failure. This makes cooperation difficult, and just a few hours later, Karácsony asks the government for it." added the former mayor.
"The campaign promises of the city administration are fulfilled with a bang, as far as the slogans "the city belongs to everyone" or "full transparency" are concerned. From the point of view of traffic management, the plans in question seem ill-advised. A sane interpretation of the so-called green policy. You only have to walk out to the wharf during peak hours, then to Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út, Károly boulevard, and everyone can assess the expected result... As for the Chain Bridge, one of Budapest's biggest traffic problems is the capacity of the bridges and the geographical location of the current bridges. To make all of this worse, for me, it suggests a psychiatric problem with driving. Traffic management is a profession. It doesn't hurt if it is dealt with by a person who has specialized qualifications and listens to the representatives of the field. There is such a person in the general assembly even today. His name is Zsolt Wintermantel.” István Tarlós concludes the interview.
