The Dance of Belonging event was organized for the first time, which started as a civil initiative from Dunamocs, and then was realized with the support of the Slovak Association of Hungarian Teachers (SZMPSZ) and the Association of Hungarian Parties in Slovakia.
The point is that Hungarian children danced and sang the same civil dances at different locations, but at the same time, on the Day of National Unity, the fourth of June. The central event of the Togetherness Dance event took place in Komárom, on Klapka square, on Saturday afternoon with around 1,500 participants.
The national president of the SZMPSZ, Irén Fekete, greeted the participants and said that more than 150 institutions - mostly kindergartens and schools - applied for the call.
Dancers from 40 places came to the central ceremony, Klapka tér in Komárom, mostly from the district of Komárom, but also from the districts of Érsekújvár, Nyitra, Léva, Dunaszerdahely, and even from Hungary.
At the same time, all the country's 18 districts inhabited by Hungarians joined the initiative, and at the same time as the central event in Komárom, they danced the same folk dances with the help of the Szőttes Néptáncegyüttes, and the tap dance was provided by Éva Korpás and her band.
"Fostering the feeling of belonging is an opportunity to become stronger in soul and spirit," said the national president of the SZMPSZ, pointing out the essence of the initiative.
"There have never been so many of us standing on Klapka Square," said Krisztián Forró, the national president of the Association, in his greeting, which was acknowledged by the people with bursts of applause. According to the president, the fact that so many people are participating in this event should give strength to the tasks facing Hungarians in the highlands. He spoke about the importance of the upcoming local and county elections, which he characterized as serious contests. "It is important to keep and strengthen the positions we have at the regional level. But we can only do this together," he emphasized.
On the national day of mourning, the anniversary of the Trianon peace decree, Krisztián Forró emphasized that the nation knows no borders.
"There is only one Hungarian nation, let its members live anywhere in the world - we belong together"
he highlighted. In his opinion, the fact that so many people came to Klapka Square today shows the strength of the community. "We must believe in ourselves and we must believe in each other!" - underlined Forró, according to whom we can think differently, we can have different opinions, but if we want to stay in Felvidék, it is necessary to formulate as a common goal the prosperity of our children and grandchildren in their homeland, as Hungarians.
