Throughout his life, János Esterházy represented the preservation of Hungarianness and the idea that every nation has the right to exist, said Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén at the ceremony and award ceremony held in Parliament on Sunday in memory of the martyred politician from the Highlands.

Zsolt Semjén put it this way:

János Esterházy was able to represent the Slovak and Hungarian, as well as the Central European and Hungarian community of destiny, and that everyone has a duty to preserve their own nation and show its values. It symbolizes and proves that Christianity and Hungarianness are not opposed to each other, but rather pointing to each other. He pointed out: no more "universal reality" can be imagined than Christianity and the Church, the teachings of the Gospel are valid in space, time, and subject matter always and everywhere.

Universal Christianity and the Church have always been aware of the anthropological reality of man, of the fact that we are members of a specific historical community, the nation. In addition to the heavenly homeland, God also gave us an earthly homeland, and whoever deserts the fate of the earthly homeland is also disloyal to the heavenly homeland, he said. He added that everyone's primary "status duty" is towards their own family, but in a broader sense, everyone has a "status duty" to care about the fate of their own nation.

Every nation is a thought of God, a wealth of specific values that only the given nation can give, and the fundamental mission of every nation is to preserve, develop and present its own values, he underlined. If any nation were to disappear from history, universal humanity would be poorer and more stunted

said Zsolt Semjén.

Christianity shaped Europe, and all European nations are younger than the Church, so Christianity did not eliminate national existence, but enabled its birth, development and survival - he pointed out, noting that if national existence were contrary to Christianity, then these nations would not have been created.

He recalled the confession of János Esterházy, when he had the courage - during the rule of the swastika - to say, "we only know one cross, the cross of Calvary" . Zsolt Semjén highlighted

János Esterházy was able to show the way in the age of inhumanity because he fixed his gaze on the cross of Calvary and - during the reign of the red star - on the star of Bethlehem. This is the star of Bethlehem, which shows the way to Hungarians, Central Europe, and the world, and "God grant" that the confession and martyrdom of János Esterházy show the way to all of us, and we ask that we be able to honor it on our altars as soon as possible

he said.

At the ceremony, the Rákóczi Association honored the retired Roman Catholic bishop of Munkacci, Antal Majnek, with the Esterházy Award, in recognition of his service to the Hungarians of Transcarpathia and to all people living in Transcarpathia.
