We have strengthened our commitment to the cooperation of the Visegrád Four, President Katalin Novák said on Tuesday in response to a journalist's question at a joint press conference with Czech President Milos Zeman in Prague.

He said: it is of utmost importance for all four countries that the Visegrad cooperation remains as close as it has been so far. They were also interested in this at the head of state level, and confirmed their commitment to the cooperation of the Visegrád four.

The President of the Republic, who is on a two-day visit to Prague, mentioned economic cooperation between the two countries, the war in Ukraine and family policy among the topics of the meeting with President Zeman.

Katalin Novák emphasized: the two countries are connected by a long friendship, and it is not only our duty, but also a good feeling to nurture this friendship and display it at the highest level. He reminded that this is his first official visit by the head of state, and called the meeting important because of the long-standing close relationship between the two countries.

He said: one of the topics of the discussion was the war raging in Ukraine. Both agreed that they condemn Putin's aggression and will do everything to ensure that both the Czech and Hungarian people provide all support to those fleeing Ukraine.

The President of the Hungarian Republic thanked the Czech Republic for its assistance to refugees. He added: Hungary has so far provided assistance to around 750,000 people forced to flee Ukraine, carrying out the largest humanitarian action of all time.

He emphasized: when we think about the war in Ukraine, we have peace in mind, we will do everything to ensure that there is peace in Europe as soon as possible.

He also touched on the fact that we participated constructively in common European decisions, it is gratifying that we managed to reach an agreement regarding the sixth sanctions package that Hungary was able to support, a compromise was formed between the European Union countries, and a sane decision was made.
