Péter Jakab would have tried to flee forward, to save what could be saved in his increasingly desperate political situation. The Jobbik president's latest political move has failed miserably.

Together with his chief political advisor, the temporarily "retired" chief of staff, Eniko Molnár, they decided that even though the chair of the party chairman is in flux, they would try to secure at least the leadership of the parliamentary faction. Obviously also in view of the fact that the faction's financial resources are now Jobbik's main income. The provisions above these are even more important within the party than the position of president, reports Metropol.

For this reason, Jakab tried to change the faction regulations. He tried to ensure that a simple majority was not enough to remove him from the position of faction leader, but a two-thirds decision was needed.

Thus, it would have been enough if at least three of the 10-member faction stood by him.

Metropol has learned that the party chairman, who has a shaky authority and is believed by many to be resigning or on the verge of resigning, failed miserably again, he was unable to gather the necessary votes. According to their sources, his failure clearly indicates that the countdown has clearly begun, and Péter Jakab's political fall can almost be sealed.

For now, it is not known when the extraordinary caucus of Jobbik will take place, where the fate of the party president, who piled scandal upon scandal and even denounced his own vice-president, may finally be decided, the portal reports.

Metropol's sources did not rule out the possibility that Péter Jakab, who was said to have written his resignation earlier, will try to escape from the embarrassing situation, even leaving the party in order to save what can still be saved as an independent representative.
