The mid-year supplementary pension increase will be 3.9 percent, retroactive to January, State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance András Tállai told the Mediaworks News Center.

The mid-year supplementary increase is calculated after a total of eight months. The pension due in July will be of a higher amount, and the six-month extension of the period from January to June will also arrive.

In addition to these, the additional increase also comes after the 13th monthly pension paid in February, which is how the eight months are added, added András Tállai.

The payment is made in the usual way, i.e. those who requested the transfer to a bank account will be credited with the amount on July 12th.

With the additional increase, the state treasury will pay a total of HUF 184 billion in extra money to the 2.6 million pensioners in one month, he said.

He said: based on the first eight months of inflation, the government will decide whether it is necessary to raise pensions further.

If necessary, at the end of the year, in November, the elderly will receive a raise again, also for the entire year. The 13th monthly pension will arrive next February, said the state secretary.

At the beginning of next year, the nearly 2.5 million pensioners and persons receiving pension-like benefits may receive more than HUF 370 billion in 13th monthly pensions, he said.
