According to an article published in the newspaper's Tuesday issue, Imre Boros stated: "The money from the recovery fund benefits our country, since the solution to mitigate the effects of the epidemic was created because Hungary also gave its support ."
Originally, we would not have needed this, but the Hungarian government was in solidarity with the southern states that were in a worse situation, he noted.
The newspaper recalled: recently, the Minister of Finance Mihály Varga indicated that the government is negotiating with the European Commission about the recovery fund and is confident that an agreement will be reached, and on the other issue, which is about the sums of the seven-year EU budget, the negotiations can be concluded by the end of July.
According to Imre Boros, the Hungarian economy is no longer in such a vulnerable situation as it was before 2010, so its dependence on EU funds is less. At the same time, these amounts are a significant help. " This is not a donation, not a gift, but money that also belongs to our country, because the Hungarian people also played a significant role in its production, " he said.
The economist also spoke about the background of the global minimum tax and stated that the Orbán government is doing the right thing by not contributing to its imposition.
