On Thursday, you could cheer on three Hungarian competitors in the open water swimming competitions of the World Aquatics Championships. For the men, Ákos Kalmár and Péter Gálicz took part in the trying 25-kilometer race, while for the women, Réka Rohács, who had already won a silver medal in the 4x1500-meter team race, took the longest distance.

For the men Kalmár started the race excellently, after an hour and a half of swimming, he was second, then he jumped to the lead at half the distance, while Gálicz was in 17th place at that time. With more than an hour left, Kalmár was second behind Axel Reymond

After the last checkpoint - 900 meters before the end - the two Hungarians swam next to each other in sixth and seventh place, and both arrived at the finish line with the podium within reach. With the last reserves of strength, Gálicz steered perfectly and smoothly won the third place. Kalmár, who led the field for a long time, finally finished in eighth place.

The 22-year-old Gálicz won the fourth medal of the Hungarian delegation at the World Aquatic Championships organized in Hungary. Among the pool swimmers, Kristóf Milák was victorious in the 100 and 200 meter butterfly, and the Hungarian relay team was second on Lake Lupa.
