II located in Rome. Viktor Emanuel Bridge

The remains of a bridge from the time of Emperor Nero, i.e. from the first century, emerged from the bed of the Italian capital's river, whose water level was reduced to a minimum during the extreme drought, reported the Roman daily La Repubblica.

Several ruins of the plinth of the ancient bridge were found.
The site of the ancient bridge attributed to the emperor Nero was known, but the structure was very rarely seen throughout history, as its remains are covered by the Tiber. The level of the river, now called Tever, has dropped from the usual four and a half meters to 112 centimeters. A water level that is too low poses a threat to the river's ecosystem and also hinders navigation. The president of the province of Lazio, Nicola Zingaretti, has already declared the area of the river a disaster zone due to the persistent lack of rainfall.

The bridge, dating back to the first century, led to the stadium built by Emperor Nero in ancient Rome, which was located on the territory of today's Vatican City. The villa of Nero's mother, Agrippina, was also found in this part of the city - on the right side of the river.

The bridge connected the two sides of the Tiber River at the same place where the II. There is a bridge named after the Italian King Viktor Emanuel, which is located next to the bridge opposite the Angel Castle. The remaining higher parts of the ancient bridge were demolished in the 19th century in order to make navigation more accessible.
