What is the biggest sin of János Kádár?
That he was a traitor. There is no greater sin than this. And the biggest sin of the Kádár system is that they almost fatally broke Hungarian society morally and mentally after the 1956 revolution. They wanted to turn everyone into a prolite, which - to avoid misunderstanding - is not a social status, but a mental state.
Can you still feel the effect of the Kádár system today?
Maybe in reflexes. On December 5, 2004, he was clearly in it. The world has apparently changed enormously, but those who strive for total power in it still have the ideal of a mass without property, deprived of their ability to self-evaluate and self-esteem, and culturally downgraded.
From October 1989 to July 1990, he was the responsible publisher of Magyar Narancs. What do you think about the newspaper's career since then?
It soon became clear that the viewpoints of a party may differ from the viewpoints of an editorial office. After there were more and more conflicts with the members of the editorial staff, who anyway represented a world significantly far from my values, there was no other solution, legally and politically, than to part ways. Compared to this, for a long time the newspaper was still registered as a Fidesz paper, and the editorial team tried to take advantage of all this, even though by then they no longer understood us, but worked against us.
In 1990, Pápán became a member of parliament as a joint candidate of Fidesz and SZDSZ. Do they say that it was a historical necessity?
Fidesz was the first opposition political organization in the country at the beginning of the system change,
and the papal group of Fidesz was the first opposition organization in Veszprém county. For example, we provided assistance for the establishment of MDF and SZDSZ in the city. The SZDSZ started as an anti-communist party, there was nothing wrong with them then - not so later - so we did not feel it was a problem when they offered to support my candidacy as a joint candidate.
"Of course, I still don't think that György Soros is the hooved devil himself. No, he is just one of his emissaries among many.” Who said that?
I must be.
Has your opinion changed?
No, my conviction has only deepened: what today in the world calls itself "progressive" is not an ideological movement or a political side. These are Satanists. Everything that was once evil in the world returns in new and new forms in each historical era: now precisely because of them.
