Discounted utility tariffs should only be provided to the needy, and even consumers with an average income should not be able to take advantage of the utility reduction, according to Ferenc Dávid, politician of the Democratic Coalition, who spoke about this in the ATV studio.
"The money could be given on the basis of need, the utility allowance could be given on the basis of need. I say again that for those who have an income of half a million or one million, it is completely unnecessary to discount, for example, their heating and the rest, "said Ferenc Dávid, a representative of the Gyurcsány party who won a parliamentary mandate from the joint left-wing list of the ATV Szigorlat program.
Dávid's idea would increase the expenses of the masses, since, for example, in February of this year, the average gross salary of full-time employees was HUF 546,000, according to data from the Central Statistical Office.
Since the utility reduction was introduced in 2013, the left has continuously attacked the measure, which represents significant financial relief for society as a whole. At the beginning of 2014, Ferenc Gyurcsány called the overhead reduction simply stupid.
