Not just one party won on the third of April, but the Hungarian countryside won - this is what the Prime Minister said at the National Assembly of Delegates of the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy. Viktor Orbán added: therefore, the Hungarian countryside has legitimate expectations of the new government, and it has obligations towards the Hungarian countryside.

He said: there is a war next door, so there is only one solution to the many difficulties: unity. Viktor Orbán stated: strategic calm is needed at this time, and the government is clear about what it must do.

After seven good years, the world is heading for seven lean years, but if we work together, we can extend the good years in Hungarian agriculture, said the Prime Minister.

The head of government emphasized that the current difficult situation has a political logic that can be seen in several Western countries, according to which they want to transfer the burden of the crisis to agriculture to a considerable extent. This will never happen in Hungary, they will not manage a crisis at the expense of agriculture, Viktor Orbán declared.

He added: there are no austerity measures here, people are not paying the price of the crisis with agriculture.

At the moment, everything is determined by the war, the situation is extremely unpredictable, and at this time it is important for everyone to keep their cool, strategic calm is needed, he emphasized.

He sees that if they react quickly to developments in a rapidly changing environment, politics will become as hectic and unpredictable as the changing events. There are fixed points that must be consistently adhered to, such as maintaining the budget deficit, cutting utilities, protecting the family support system, full employment and pensions, as well as reducing the public debt, he listed.

According to Viktor Orbán, even though the country's means to influence the inflation that hit Hungary due to the war are limited, the Hungarian economy has a chance to find a path to avoid the economic crisis even in the complicated environment.

He said: the V4 countries have a realistic chance of staying out of a general European recession with a smart economic policy. If the Visegrad countries are able to set an independent path for themselves in a different way than Brussels, it is possible that they will stay out of the European recession, he said.

He noted: of course, it is not good that there is a war next door, because there are differences between them in their perception of the war and the Russians, but there is a good chance that the four countries will coordinate their policies and implement an economic policy that, despite the slowing growth "takes us out from under the now threatening cloudy sky".

He emphasized: this means that there is a chance that the Hungarian economy will not decrease this year, but will grow, and it is even possible – taking into account the uncertainty of the war – that the Hungarian economy will grow by 4-6 percent this year. At the same time, it is important that economic policy will have to be pursued in such a way that our biggest customer market, Germany, is suffering from serious problems, he said.

Viktor Orbán touched on it: the cooperation with the EU also affects the Hungarian economic situation, and now it seems that all professional obstacles to the agreement on the European Union have been removed, they were able to make a proposal that meets the needs of the EU, the difference of opinion on the gender issue and separated from money, "or at least we took a step in that direction".

In principle, therefore, everything is ready for the cooperation agreement between the Union and Hungary, which "both parties need", he said.

He said: our political opponents want to prevent this, the European left is doing everything to ensure that the European Commission and Hungary cannot reach an agreement, and "unfortunately, the Hungarian left is also part of this action".
