In the past 12 years, rural health institutions were able to renew themselves with HUF 600 billion, which is unprecedented in the past three or four decades, the Minister of Construction and Transport announced on Thursday in Hódmezővásárhely.

János Lázár, at the handover of the new pediatric and internal medicine department of the hospital in Hódmezővásárhely, created with EU and domestic support, said that every Hungarian has the right to recover as quickly as possible and in the best possible conditions.

The politician, who also holds the post of regional parliamentarian, explained that regardless of party affiliation, he opposes if a government wants to eliminate the bastions of the rural health care system and close rural hospitals. He added: it was a mistake to downsize the hospital in Makó, it would be a mistake to cut back the hospital in Szentes or any rural hospital, because this will not advance the health care situation.

The demand of the Hungarian electorate is legitimate, that the hospitals for which they have done so much, the medical society to which they insist, should be able to do their work

- said the minister.

János Lázár recalled that two decades ago, the cooperation of Hódmezővásár residents prevented the closing of the local hospital, which was planned by the social liberal government. He stated: Having worked as a rural parliamentarian for twenty years, he can never give his name to the fact that a rural person is a second-class citizen of the country or Europe.

Árpád Kallai, the general director of the Csongrád County Health Care Center Hódmezővásárhely-Makó, said that the building of the specialist clinic in Hódmezővásárhely hospital was expanded with two floors, each measuring more than a thousand square meters, and the pediatric and internal medicine departments were located there.

The development of the hospital can be realized thanks to the Romanian-Hungarian Interreg grant awarded jointly with the Szatmári Irgalmas Nővérek Egyesület, named after St. Vincent Páli in Szatmárném. The budget of the project for the institution in Hódmezővásárhely is 7.45 million euros (2.82 billion forints), of which 3.9 million euros was the cost of the construction investment, around one million euros was for the equipment of the two departments, and 2.3 million euros for making public health screenings more efficient. spent on the purchase of equipment. In addition, the government provided HUF 600 million in additional support for the construction investment, said the specialist.

The new part of the building, prepared by Építészmester Zrt., housed the 34- and 35-bed pediatric and internal medicine departments. In the internal medicine department, two four-bed sub-intensive departments and three two-bed wards suitable for isolation receive patients. Some of the wards in the children's ward are also suitable for mothers, and a four-bed room has also been created where one of the parents of the babies in the infant ward can sleep.

The Csongrád County Health Care Center with its partners in Hódmezővásárhely-Makó recently won an additional grant of 2.9 million euros, from which a modern MR machine will be put into operation in Hódmezővásárhely by the end of the year, and a new gastroenterology department will be created in Makó, the general director announced.
