Justice Minister Judit Varga promised straight Hungarian answers to Brussels in response to the fact that the European Commission and the European Parliament's Home Affairs, Civil Rights and Justice Committee (LIBE) published and adopted a report on Wednesday that condemns Hungary.

The minister made a statement on his Facebook page , in which he questioned the preparedness of LIBE and the report's presenter, Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield. At the same time, he expressed confidence in the committee.

The European Commission's annual report on the rule of law did not come as a surprise to the government, which is on the side of a calm, professional dialogue even in the familiar firefight, Judit Varga wrote.

"Even though the report is based on uncertain indices, biased NGOs and prejudices, as in previous years, it is important to point out that we can be more and more optimistic during the negotiations with the Commission, because the professional dialogue now focuses on solutions and not on problems. We stick to our most basic posture: honesty. After all, we spoke honestly about the problems and now we are also speaking honestly about the solutions," said the minister.

Turning to the report adopted by the LIBE committee of the European Parliament, Judit Varga stated that the EP decided that even in times of war it would rather remain part of the problem than the solution.

The LIBE committee, which maintains good relations with the Hungarian left, voted for Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield's report, in which they demand the withdrawal of EU funds belonging to our country, the Minister of Justice announced.

With the EP, the disc "stuck". In his report, he indiscriminately echoes the left's "repetitive rants" without taking into account the facts and professional arguments. This attitude calls into question the professional competence of the LIBE committee and Sargentini's successor, he wrote.

"The new Ms. Sargentini, in addition to spreading lies and untruths in some interviews, is not even able to put together a correct professional position," said Judit Varga.
