The American Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine has released new guidance advising hospitals and health care providers to change their language to be more "gender inclusive."

The guide lists 'traditional terms' such as 'breast milk' and then suggests alternatives such as 'human milk', 'parental milk' and 'father's milk'.

Even the word "breast" cannot escape newspaper dictation, as it is replaced by the word "mammary gland".

The biologist told The Post Millenial: "This document was sent to me by a friend whose wife is a hospital nurse."

She said that this new inclusive language is being introduced at the hospital where she works, and that nurses and other health professionals should ask each patient what terms they want to be used when talking about their care.” Wright added.

He pointed out that the majority of patients would prefer nurses to focus on more important things such as medications and proper dosing, rather than "inclusive" communication with them.
