Several thousand believers and their pastors participated in the farewell celebration of the Diocese of Debrecen-Nyíregyháza on July 31 in Máriapócs. The celebratory mass began at 11:00 a.m. at the camp altar in front of the church, the main celebrant and speaker was Archbishop György Udvardy of Veszprém, vice president of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops' Conference (MKPK).

At the beginning of the Mass, the Diocese Bishop of Debrecen-Nírygyháza, Ferenc Palánki, greeted the priests and the faithful of the Diocese, as well as those pilgrims who came from near and far on foot or by bicycle, who set out at night and walked for up to two days to make sacrifices for this holiday. The community of young people from the diocese, who spent the last week in a camp under the leadership of Father István Németh, also took part in the farewell. On the last two days, the county bishop strengthened them with his teaching and presence. Accompanied by the senior pastor, the young people also made the journey on foot from the last location of the camp, Levelek, to the diocesan farewell.

Archbishop György Udvardy explained that the diocese is a sacred reality, since the bishop is present as a part of the church with his priests, deacons, secular helpers, and the multitude of the faithful. The certainty of the teaching desired by God, the unity and power of the sacraments appear in the diocese, we find in it the true teaching, the integrity of the sacraments, their life-giving power and the order of service.

We pray that the diocese will be able to proclaim the good news of salvation to all the people in its territory in its entirety and integrity, to inspire hope and serve on the path of salvation - emphasized the speaker.

We want to learn from this, draw strength, and glorify God through the example of Mary, who stands before us as a model and protects us as a mother. If we look at Mary as the model of the Church, we can ask what the Church is like. In her, the whole entirety of the Church shines for us, because we confess about Mary that she is without sin, she was not touched by any stain of sin, from her conception through her personal life because of Jesus Christ. Saint Augustine says of Mary:

"We discover her true dignity in the fact that even before she received the Son of God in her womb according to the flesh, she received the Word of God in her heart through the Holy Spirit."

Mária is a model for us. His person, his life, his profession, his everyday life are directed towards Jesus Christ in all his activities. There is nothing in his life that he considers important other than his Christ, the Son of God, the Messiah, the promised Savior.

Mary is a model in such a way that we can all follow her, since in baptism God erases our sins and weaknesses and gives us everything through His Spirit: wisdom, understanding, knowledge, strength, piety, everything we need in In everyday life. In this, we are strengthened by Mary - explained the farewell speaker.

Mary teaches us when she says:

always weigh, judge by my Son, is what you see good? And in the same way it leads us to a decision, we have to decide even every day and always in favor of Christ, the glory, the heavenly height, and not in favor of our fears, our sins, our weaknesses.

Our Heavenly Mother warns us that we have to fight for the good that we want, that we think we deserve, what is ours, but also for the good and the good of the community and society. In this, you can get wounded and get tired, but we can also help and encourage each other, so that we can live this divine will well in our families and communities.

May God grant that today's pilgrimage, the journey to and from home, the encounter with the conditions at home raise this dignity and glory in all of us and that we be ready to fight for the good. Mary, our heavenly mother, watches over us and supports us! Archbishop György Udvardy concluded his reflection.
