In June 2022, the number of nights spent by domestic guests in commercial accommodations (hotels, guesthouses, campsites, holiday home complexes, and community accommodations) increased by 18 percent compared to the same month in 2021. The number of nights spent by foreign guests increased more than three and a half times.
Overall, the number of guest nights increased by more than one and a half times this June compared to the previous year, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) announced on Friday.
The total number of domestic and foreign guest nights was 2 million 596 thousand.
62 percent of all guest nights were spent by domestic guests in June. The number of domestic guests increased by 30 percent, and the number of guest nights by 18 percent.
The number of foreign guests increased almost fourfold, and the number of guest nights more than three and a half times. The 359,000 foreign guests who arrived at the accommodations spent a total of 994,000 guest nights. 74 percent of guest nights were spent in hotels, where there was more than a three and a half times increase compared to June 2021. The most popular tourist region was the Budapest-Central-Danube region, 51 percent of foreign guest nights were registered here.
