The person who sees the unity as an ethnic problem does not see the real task - stated Miklós Soltész, State Secretary responsible for church and ethnic relations, at the opening ceremony of the Ábrahám Árpád Kindergarten, renovated with Hungarian state support, in Sepsibükszád, on Friday. He added that our task is not to stir up debate among ourselves, but to strengthen our communities - read on the Székelyhon news portal.
The building of the Ábrahám Árpád Kindergarten in Sepsisbükszád was renovated as part of the Carpathian Basin kindergarten development program, at the ceremony of which State Secretary Miklós Soltész, Kovászna County Council Chairman Tamás Sándor and the town's mayor Csaba Bács cut the ribbon. Kovászna county chief inspector Imre Kiss also gave a speech at the event, and the charge d'affaires of the Consulate General of Hungary in Csíkszereda, Ákos Lukács Bence, was also present.
State Secretary Miklós Soltész recalled his visit to Transylvania nearly forty years ago. "We experienced a lot at that time, the Ceaușescu dictatorship was still raging, many things were forbidden. The persecution of the Hungarians was sad and terrible, but at the same time it was also strange to me when I saw on the notice boards in the individual villages what each settlement had to serve. Since then, a lot has changed here in Transylvania, Székelyföld, Romania - both economically and politically. Our local governments have become stronger, our churches are beautifying, and our churches are stronger.
However, one thing has not changed in the last three decades: even though the pressure, we can say the oppression, and understandably the resistance has decreased, I must say that the struggle has not changed. This struggle is served by the joint works and tasks that we completed here, also in Székelyföld."
The Hungarian State Secretary then responded to the discourses criticizing Hungarian state investments in Transylvania, and drew attention to the fact that not only Hungarians, but also members of the majority society benefited from the investments. "You have to pay attention to the fact that such a collaboration, the renewal of a kindergarten, is not directed against anyone, rather it helps to stay in the place, strengthens the local economy, the economy of Romania as well, and creates jobs. This is not only good for the Hungarians, not only good for the people living here, not only good for those in Bükszád or all over Transylvania, Partium, but also for the whole of Romania, since this way the majority society also benefits from tax revenues at least. We must say that anyone who sees an ethnic problem in this kindergarten program, who doubts the value of this cooperation, unfortunately does not see the real task and problem. Our task is not to stir up debate among ourselves, but to strengthen our communities," he explained.
