In his ceremonial speech, the President of the Republic thanked the Hungarian army officers sworn in today, and spoke about why it is extremely important to remember our founding king even in difficult times.

"Our fate has become the same as that of Europe, we have chained ourselves together. (…) We need the community of European countries, and they also need us"

said Katalin Novák.

He highlighted:

today, when the continent can become a battleground for the great powers, we must "roll each other's shoulders", joint decisions must be made, joint European decisions that serve the common good.

Said:

"the precondition of our cooperation is that they do not blackmail us, neither with the money we deserve", nor with ideologies rejected by the Hungarians.

Hungary wants to increase the strength of Europe, it wants to amplify Europe's voice, so "we have a chance to protect" the European people and preserve everything from our "history and culture" that made Europe great, he emphasized.

Katalin Novák drew attention to the fact that in order to restore and preserve the order of the world, and within Europe, we need brave, decisive and wise leaders who are able to uphold law and justice, who do not forget the fallen and the needy.

In addition to good leaders, we also need sane, insightful, wise and solidary Hungarian people - he added, highlighting:

Hungarians are crisis-proof and have the ability to stick together, "this is our reserve of strength".

Recalling the oath of the military officers, the President of the Republic thanked the soldiers for their patriotism, determination, and courage and wished that "the Lord will spare us from war and keep our soldiers and our families in peace." They should not have to fight for national defense and "we should not become a battleground for great powers"! he added.

The Head of State and the Commander-in-Chief of the Hungarian Defense Force emphasized that the leaders of the country will do everything possible to prevent bloodshed on Hungarian soil.

Is it necessary, is it possible to celebrate when guns are crackling next door, when we have to face the serious economic consequences of war? asked the president of the republic.

He emphasized that right now we need to look at our common life from a perspective that helps us understand our past in order to find the self-evident unity of the nation.

As he said

now we need to draw strength from Saint István's wisdom, faith in God, foresight, tactics, courage, and modesty. Now we have the opportunity to think about how many bad lucks, strifes and injustices the Hungarian nation has remained strong in spite of

he added.

Katalin Novák touched on the fact that founding a state is similar to founding a family, as it presupposes courage, faith, determination, and hope for the future.

Without the brave decision of Szent István, Hungary would not be independent, independent and strong today, just as we would not be here today without the brave decisions of our great-grandparents and parents, he said, adding: they also had to dare to say yes to life, to say yes to us, from these our community is built on yeses.

In his speech, the President of the Republic wished Hungarians to always have bread on their tables and to have people with whom it is a pleasure to sit around the table.

"As long as we are able to pay attention to our parents and grandparents, and as long as our children and grandchildren feel it is important to tell us stories, we will have someone to bake bread for."

said Katalin Novák.
