Scandal in the 1st district: what was important to V. Naszályi in the campaign, not so much in power. The crown jewel of Márta Naszályi's election program was that she would put order in the rental housing issue in the 1st district. However, in the short three years since his election, none of this is visible.
Márta Naszályi wanted to settle the situation of the rental apartments in the Castle District according to her promises at all costs. In several interviews, he spoke about unsustainable conditions, the district is doing badly, but he will put things in order as mayor. At the end of last year, the Parliament amended the Housing Act, thanks to which those who have been tenants of the 1st district municipality for more than five years became entitled to buy the apartments. The district manager was not a fan of the amendment, to put it mildly, and the residents are not the first to be upset by the municipality's attitude.
In any case, the law states: after submitting the purchase request, the municipality must make an offer within a certain time frame.
There are those who applied immediately after the amendment of the law, but to this day have not received an offer, and the deadline has already expired.
"Ms. Mayor always promises everything, only the deeds that prove the intention are left behind. In the worst case, he does the opposite," László Böröcz, member of parliament and president of Budavári Fidesz, told Mandiner.
The politician from the ruling party noted that this has already happened once in the case of tenants, as Márta V. Naszályi promised in the 2019 campaign that tenants would be able to buy their apartments, and after her election it turned out that she wanted to raise rents rather than sell them. According to his words, the assessment of the apartments and the completion of the necessary administrative work are apparently progressing at a snail's pace.
"There can be two reasons for this: on the one hand, the lack of real intention, and the fact that the operation of the Budavári Municipality is struggling with serious problems due to the continuous internal disputes of the left-wing parties," he said, and then continued,
this is also evident from the fact that there are continuous layoffs in key positions.
According to László Böröcz, it says a lot that they were not usually sent away, but stood up voluntarily, presumably because of the city administration's incompetence and aggressive management style, and the cultural leader recently resigned - publicly - citing this very reason.
Mandiner has not yet reached the authorities.
