A mysterious housing deal worth half a billion is included in Ferenc Gyurcsány's asset declaration. It is not yet known which property the former prime minister would part with, but the amount deposited as a down payment increases significantly month by month, reports Magyar Nemzet.

The part of Ferenc Gyurcsány's May 2022 asset declaration that cannot be interpreted based on public data is the part in which the president of the Democratic Coalition listed more than 446 million forints as a claim under the title of "home purchase deposit and advance".

It is not known which of the real estate assets the former prime minister would part with, since the size of the amount assumes that it could be a significant apartment.

Yes, but according to Gyurcsány's property declaration, the politician only owns a 50 square meter condominium apartment in Pápa and 50 percent of a property in Kötcs. The latter is a 267-square-meter family house on a plot of more than 3,000 square meters.

The Pope's apartment is therefore out of the question, as it is completely out of the question that someone would put down a deposit or advance payment of almost half a billion forints on this property. In the case of the family house in Kötcs, it is not really viable to pay the mentioned amount.

The number of question marks is increased by the fact that in the 2020 and January 2021 asset declarations, the politician listed only HUF 225 million in the relevant section, and in January 2022 it was already HUF 348 million. The fact is that it is a case of buying an apartment that has been going on for years, but for now it is a mystery what kind of transactions can actually be behind the millions that are increasing every year.

It is important to note that the tiny villa on Szemlőhegy Street, in which the Gyurcsány couple lives, is owned by Klára Dobrev and her mother Piroska Apró, which means that the former prime minister has nothing to do with the property according to the land register.
