The spring election result reflects people's opinion about the past 12 years, people felt that Hungary has become stronger and their life prospects have improved, said István Hollik, Fidesz's communications director, on Friday in Tihany, at the Tranzit Public Season Opening and Gondolatexpo.

He explained: many important results have been achieved in the past period, which the left does not consider to be results. Such is the fact that, despite the great pressure, they did not let Hungary become a country of immigrants, he believed. He added: however, the economic successes certainly cannot be denied. He also said that the EU funds are not donations, it does not depend on the benevolence of the EU to receive them, but they go to Hungary. Now it looks like the European Commission has put aside its political opinion and is returning to its original role, so constructive negotiations are taking place, he said. He noted that EU funds will continue to be used for the benefit of Hungary. According to his partner in the debate, András Jámbor , a parliamentary representative of Párbeszéd, it is really necessary for the EU funds to arrive, because these funds are planned in the budget. At the same time, it is not a matter of random political pressure on the part of the EU, but there are fundamental norms that form the basis of the union and according to which the EU asks for things, he said.

István Hollik elaborated: we are in a difficult situation, but the crisis was not caused by us, but by the war and the erroneous EU sanctions. The two politicians judged the development of the child protection referendum differently. Never before have so many people participated and expressed their opinions in a referendum, as this is a success in itself, and there were many people who did not vote for the governing parties, but agreed with their position, stated István Hollik. According to András Jámbor, however, the fact that the referendum took place at the same time as the election meant a different mobilization situation.

In relation to utility reduction and sanctions, András Jámbor said: inflation is high in other parts of the world not because of EU sanctions, and basically there is a long-lasting global economic crisis that did not start with the war, but it is making it worse. The utility reduction must be maintained, but due to the definition of average consumption, many people find themselves in a situation where they have to pay too much utility, he opined. According to István Hollik, however, war and sanctions are the cause of inflation, the numbers show this, yet the left defends the sanctions. It is interesting that the left now defends the utility reduction, even though it was attacked before, he said. He added: the government did everything it could in the matter of reducing utilities.

András Jámbor raised the question: if inflation is really due to the war, why did the government introduce the price cap last year? He also asked how public employees should earn more to pay for increased utilities if the state determines their salaries. István Hollik stated: during the government of the left, the energy companies were sold, the government reversed this situation, and thus the country is in a better position today, much less vulnerable. The majority of people, including civil servants, consume average or below, he said when asked by the representative.
