The prime minister received David Laut, Israel's Ashkenazi chief rabbi, in the Carmelite monastery, with whom he discussed the support of Jewish communities, the relationship between Hungary and Israel, and the Russian-Ukrainian war, Bertalan Havasi, the prime minister's press chief, said on Thursday.

At the meeting, which was also attended by Balázs Orbán, the political director of the Prime Minister, and Slomó Köves, the chief rabbi of the United Hungarian Israelite Community (EMIH), David Lau thanked the Hungarian government for the support it provides to strengthen the Jewish communities in Hungary and the world. especially highlighting the Jews who fled Ukraine, whom Hungary helps by providing shelter and care.

Viktor Orbán and David Lau were pleased to acknowledge the close strategic alliance between the State of Israel and Hungary.

Bertalan Havasi said that the importance of an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of peace in connection with the Russian-Ukrainian war was emphasized at the hearing.
