The Hungarian Veolia group bought the Oroszlány power plant from MVM Zrt., which it will restart at the beginning of 2024, the company told MTI.

According to their information, electricity would be produced by burning biomass and, to a lesser extent, prepared selected waste (SRF) in the two blocks, each with a capacity of 50 megawatts (MW), after the renovation of the equipment. 200 jobs would be created at the plant and 250-300 at the suppliers, the investment contributes to the fulfillment of Hungary's international obligations in terms of reducing carbon dioxide emissions, they wrote.

The Vértesi Erőmű Zrt. Oroszlányi Erőmű site is Hungary's fifth largest coal- and biomass-fired power plant, which has been out of service since December 31, 2015.
