According to the curator of the Protected Society Foundation, the amendment signed by Sándor Pintér "sends that our society feels responsible for every child who conceives, that we are all responsible for what happens to them."
Pursuant to a new ministerial decree, the implementing decree of the Act on the Protection of Fetal Life is amended. Pursuant to the amendment signed by Sándor Pintér, not only the data content of the application form required for termination of pregnancy changes, but also the process itself. The change amounts to a pro-life victory.
In order to perform an abortion, from September 15, it will be necessary for the pregnant woman to present a report issued by an obstetrician-gynecologist. This proves that, for the mother, the healthcare provider presented "the factor indicating the functioning of fetal vital functions" in a clearly identifiable manner. Among other things, this can of course also be the sound of the baby's heartbeat.
The development therefore practically means that the decree binds the performance of an abortion to listening to the heartbeat.
Based on international experience, this change can save the lives of many fetuses. Where similar provisions were introduced, more mothers decided to adopt their children as a result. This is the point where many people realize that the fetus they carry under their heart is not just a "knot of cells", but a real human life.

It's no secret that we've been taking steps with our own resources for a long time in order to signal: both lives matter, that of the mother and the baby is a valuable human life!" Andrea Földi-Kovács, member of the foundation's board of trustees and head of its life protection workshop, tells our paper.

According to the curator of the Protected Society Foundation, today we don't even necessarily see what a huge step has been taken to protect life. He emphasizes that the amendment can bring about a change in society in a spiritual sense as well.
