The Hungarian Village Program continues, significant resources are available, said the government commissioner responsible for the development of modern settlements on Monday in Szigetcsép, Pest County. Alpár Gyopáros emphasized at the handover of the new health center realized with the support of the Hungarian Village Program that the developments in Szigetcsép reflect well the work done as part of the program.

Reminded: Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced the launch of the Hungarian Village Program in 2018. They wanted to offer the people living in the small settlement a quality of life that would encourage them, especially young people, to stay. Those who moved from the villages mentioned, among other things, that the health care, kindergarten conditions, and the condition of the roads and sidewalks were inadequate. That is why the support goals of the Hungarian Village Program are so diverse - the government commissioner pointed out.

Four different types of projects are being completed in Szigetcsép - he said, adding - these developments clearly show that the Hungarian Village Program is "written by the Hungarian villages", and the subsidies are adapted to their needs.

"The villages themselves say what support goals they need, and of course we want to continue our work in this direction," said Alpár Gyopáros.

Zoltán Bóna, the Fidesz parliamentary representative of the region, said that "miracles have been happening" in the settlement in the past period, which is due to the real cooperation. He added: they will not stop, there are still tasks beyond the borders of Szigetcsép, as there is much to be done in terms of transport, education and training infrastructure, the agglomeration, Szigetszentmiklós, and the northern part of Csepel Island.

Judit Tóthné Kriszt, the independent mayor of the town of about 2,300 inhabitants, said that in the new 240-square-meter health center, in addition to the family doctor's office, the nanny service and a pharmacy were also located, and the building was certified as a passive house.

In the Hungarian Village Program, they won HUF 30 million in support for the health center, to which HUF 190 million were added. In addition, three more projects were implemented in the settlement in the program: road renovation was carried out with HUF 16 million budget support, they were able to buy a van to help with the daily tasks of the village caretaker - for this they received HUF 4.6 million - and a new urn wall was created in the public cemetery, to which the government contributed six million HUF to it.
