In the third week of September, international politics always focus on New York, as the UN General Assembly is held every year at that time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced in a Facebook post on Monday.

This year is the seventh time I have had the honor of representing Hungary at this global political event, but this year's general assembly will be special, since there is a war going on in our neighborhood.

The war brought a lot of trouble to the whole world, so it's time for the countries to unite for peace! An immediate ceasefire and peace negotiations are needed to end the war. There is no broader and more suitable platform for all this than the UN.

The measure of the success of this year's General Assembly will therefore be whether we get closer to peace or not.
