20 domestic NGOs working to protect fetal life and support pregnant women in crisis formulated their position in a joint statement regarding the amendment that caused a great social response.

We stand by the "heart sound regulation"!

Pursuant to the ministerial decree that entered into force on September 15, the implementing decree of the Act on the Protection of Fetal Life was amended, which states that from now on abortions will require a report issued by an obstetrician-gynecologist, which proves that the health care provider "is responsible for the functioning of the vital functions of the fetus indicative factor" was presented to the mother in a clearly identifiable manner. Otherwise, the possibility of abortion as a medical intervention is not affected by the decree.

The Hungarian life protection community unanimously welcomes and supports the new decree.

Today, a series of international experiences prove that the examination, which can be easily performed with modern diagnostic tools, can save the lives of many of our fellow human beings of fetal age. The sound of the child's heartbeat, the resulting "meeting" between the baby and the mother, has in many cases turned back the desperate mother who was preparing for an abortion, felt herself in a forced situation, and was shocked by her child's heartbeat to realize that she was not carrying a "cell lump", but a sentient, developing life. under his heart.

The new decree gives the woman in crisis the opportunity not to regret her - later irreversible, vital - decision! Both of them matter, the life of the mother and the child are equally valuable human lives!

It is also not negligible that many families, as adoptive parents, would undertake to raise children whose parents give up on them, or who would end their lives with an abortion already at the fetal age.

The signatory organizations are confident that many children can be saved and many mothers and families can avoid the physical, mental and relational traumas that follow an abortion by finally letting the fetus know - if only for a few seconds - about its fate to its parents.

The decree is an important step to declare that our society feels responsible for every conceived child and that we all share this responsibility!

We support the "heartbeat decree", in the spirit of the Basic Law, which states that: "Every person has the right to life and human dignity, the life of the fetus is entitled to protection from conception."

We will continue our pro-life struggle and attitude formation to enforce this!
