When the Brussels bureaucrats passed the sanctions, they knew that this would lead to an accelerated increase in food prices, and there was also a drought in our country, which is why they introduced the food price freeze - Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told Kossuth Rádió Good morning, Hungary! in his show. The prime minister believes that there are some mistakes made by the decision-makers, but he believes that most of them can be corrected. This is also the case with the decision on sanctions. According to the Prime Minister, the sanctions policy must be changed for this very reason, because if we do not achieve this, the surcharge we are currently paying for energy will be incorporated into the economy.

There were difficult and even crisis moments during the last 12 years of government, and I learned that it is best if we can somehow involve people in the decision at such times - said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Kossuth Rádió Good morning, Hungary! in his show. According to the Prime Minister, it is necessary to try to find points of agreement in society, because the more difficult the situation, the greater the need for unity. "We are living in difficult times now, so we need the national consultation," Viktor Orbán added.

The prime minister said that this is also necessary because the people pay the price of the sanctions policy, since the price of energy rose not as a result of economic but political decisions in Brussels.

All this happened despite the fact that after the elections we agreed with Brussels at the EU level to leave energy carriers out of the sanctions, but the EU did not comply with this agreement, which is why it was necessary to transform the overhead reduction or introduce price caps.

This is the new situation, the question now is whether we will continue to worsen this situation, because they want to introduce more and more sanctions in the Union.

"They lied to the people of Europe in Brussels because they said that the sanctions would not be extended to energy, and then they did extend them, they said that the sanctions would end the war, but the war would be prolonged, because of this the prices are skyrocketing, which is tormenting the people, and the speculators are rubbing their palms," said the Prime Minister.

Viktor Orbán said that in such a situation, everyone moves, very big money moves around, and energy companies are the businesses with the highest profits in the world. We know that the owners of these companies are making serious extra profit billions.

The prime minister did not see the need for impact studies because we fought for exemption from the oil embargo.

If this had not succeeded, then the situation would be that there would be no energy.

Viktor Orbán explained that the price is on the world market, we cannot come up with a separate Hungarian price. He explained that when the Germans sided with the Brussels position, it was obvious that food prices would also increase. Fertilizer and transportation both require energy, and this will lead to accelerating inflation. This situation torments all of us, which is why the food price freeze was necessary, said Viktor Orbán.

Viktor Orbán also spoke about the fact that some of the wrong decisions can be corrected. Most bad political decisions can be corrected, and this is also the case with sanctions, he added. If the sanctions policy is not changed, the sanction surcharge will be integrated into the economy. If we do not manage to change the sanctions policy, this will become a part of our lives in the next 5-10 years.

According to Viktor Orbán, the government's most important task is to have energy in the country. Today, Hungary is able to operate for 4.5-5 months even if there is no gas.

People must be protected from price increases. Overhead protection costs HUF 181,000 on average. In terms of income level, this is the highest subsidy in Europe. The firewood and brown coal program has been launched, the interest stop and the food price stop are in operation. A 200 million program has just been launched for businesses.

Viktor Orbán also spoke about the fact that MVM takes a large part of the energy, and that they must adapt to the rapidly changing price level. By the end of October, you may be able to see the budget numbers, but we will be within the agreed deficit, he added.

THE BUDGET ACT WILL BE AMENDED AT THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER, BECAUSE THEN YOU CAN ALREADY SEE THE EXPECTED PROCESSES, he said.

Regarding pensions, he said that the government guaranteed their value at the time. The 13th month pension will remain, and we will preserve its value. We are keeping the pension increase that follows inflation. There will be another pension adjustment in November, he added. There will be an increase in line with inflation, and if the increase is above 3.5 percent, there will be another bonus.

Viktor Orbán also talked about how it is difficult to cooperate with people who are not masters of their own will and who play to the music of others.

It would be a mistake if the government and the country were based on cooperation with the opposition. They are paid from America, he added.

Viktor Orbán said about the heartbeat decree that it does not affect the current abortion law. He does not support changing the abortion law, the Prime Minister declared.
