Instead of the mayor, his subordinates are trying to put out the fire, according to the political scientist, this shows that the city manager failed the crisis management test.

According to the latest information, Budapest may be saved from drowning in garbage due to the inaction of Mayor Gergely Karácsony, the FKF waste haulers may start work on Friday.

The garbage hasn't been taken away in Budapest for days. The protest of the FKF waste haulers started on Tuesday, when some of the garbage trucks did not leave from the Rákospalota and the Brotherhegy site, and at the Csepel site, according to reports, public sanitation workers and cleaners also joined the strike, and at the Ecseri út site they were waiting for the managers who able to negotiate.

Among other things, the garbage haulers complained that the capital's left-wing leadership spread lies about their salaries, and that they hired inspectors to spy on the workers, but the inspectors earn much more than they do.

According to Magyar Nemzet, the mayor has asked the disaster management to pick up the garbage of the citizens of Budapest. Gergely Karácsony, who was already looking for a solution elsewhere, seems to be able to escape again, because according to the latest information, the representatives of the waste transporters have reached an agreement with the management of Budapesti Közművek. As a temporary solution, the strikers accepted the HUF 200,000 gross offered by the capital, which the company will pay them by October 14. In addition, they receive HUF 50,000 each in November and December, and HUF 120,000 for Christmas. In addition to the 15 percent wage increase in January provided by the state, the capital promised the workers another 2 percent.

- In terms of crisis management, Zoltán Kiszelly, director of the Zoltán Kiszelly, Center for Political Analysis of the Századvég, evaluated the mayor's performance. "We see that the city is run down." The renovation of the Lánchíd is delayed, the renovation of subway 3 is also delayed, and in this situation we see haste. They continue the tradition of Demszky, who always pointed at the government and came into conflict with the government, instead of making his own proposals. He always asked for money from the government for operating costs, and as mayor he always focused only on ribbon cutting.

The political scientist sees that all this is just the introduction, because it has already been announced that BKV will not have an agreement on electricity as of January, so presumably the public transport company will follow.

– We saw the same thing with Demszky, who was also unable to cover the costs of the operation and always expected help from the government. In addition to the waste haulers, the employees of other companies in the capital city can also react in a similar way, so we can expect further disruptions in the life of the city, said Zoltán Kiszelly.
