Cooperation between the countries of the Visegrád Group (V4) has been successful so far, and will therefore continue. Regarding the war in Ukraine, the Polish and Hungarian positions differ, but the interests of the two countries are common, Mateusz Morawiecki stated on Polish public radio on Wednesday evening.

Morawiecki gave a half-hour interview to the third channel of the Polish radio. During the conversation, they were also asked about the Polish and Hungarian positions on the war in Ukraine, as well as about regional cooperation.

Central Europe is "our common home, we have common interests, and as long as we fought together on migration or many EU directives, we were successful," replied Morawiecki. He added: therefore, the cooperation in the Visegrád group will continue.

In response to a question about the date of the next V4 summit, Morawiecki said: the Visegrad presidents already met in Bratislava on Tuesday, and the prime minister's meeting will probably take place within a few weeks.

Regarding the assessment of the war in Ukraine, Morawiecki indicated that the Hungarian position is different from the Polish one. "It is not my role to explain this from a historical point of view or according to the legality of today's times, this is the business of the Hungarians and those who want to deal with matters related to Hungary," he declared.

"It is important to underline that we have common interests," he added. He also emphasized that Hungary has not vetoed any of the EU sanctions packages against Russia.
