We are able to protect Hungary's interests both at home and abroad, the Prime Minister declared in his ceremonial speech at the inauguration of the Mindszentyneum building in Zalaegerszeg on Sunday. Viktor Orbán put it this way: In 1956, we learned that only cooperation can help in difficult times. That's why we shouldn't worry about those who "are shooting at Hungary from the shadows or from the heights of Brussels", they will end up where their predecessors did, he said.

The prime minister emphasized that since Hungary has had a national government, the country has come out of every crisis stronger than when it went into it.

We are also prepared now, we will preserve the stability of the economy, everyone will have a job, we can protect the utility reduction, and families will not be left alone - Viktor Orbán stated, adding: the government has the strength and experience to do this.

In 1956, Hungary had a real chance to win its independence

In 1956, Hungary had a real chance to win its independence, declared the Prime Minister, who also spoke about the fact that only the Hungarians can show the world the truth of the Hungarians.

Viktor Orbán announced at the ceremonial dedication of the Mindszentyneum building in Zalaegerszeg on the commemoration day of the 1956 revolution and freedom struggle that the heroes of the revolution were very different, but the same idea drove their actions, they were all lovers of free Hungary. According to the Prime Minister, in 1956, all reasonable conditions were in place for a non-violent transition in Hungary.

He added: the plan still worked in the first days, hundreds of thousands of Hungarians took part in the revolution, the Soviets were confused, and if the West had not betrayed them, the Hungarians would have succeeded for the second time after 1945.

Only the Hungarians can show the truth of the Hungarians to the world, and only the Hungarians can defend their own truth in the face of threats - concluded Viktor Orbán.

Today we don't have to die for our country, we can live for it

We want to be worthy of the community-building legacy of Cardinal Mindszenty and the death-defying courage of the heroes of 1956, we want to take advantage of the opportunity that today we do not have to die for the country, but can live for it, said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Sunday in Zalaegerszeg, at the ceremonial handing over of the Mindszentyneum building.

In his celebratory speech delivered on a stage decorated with national flags in front of the József Mindszenty Visitor Center, the Prime Minister emphasized: the Hungarians knew that we needed spiritual support even in the midst of the revolution, which is why they freed Mindszenty from the prison of the communists.

He added: József Mindszenty was the one who first "called the child by his name", he was not talking about an uprising, but a fight for freedom. He confessed with conviction - recalled the Prime Minister - that we are not enemies of anyone, we want to live in friendship with all peoples and countries.

Viktor Orbán said that "our real tragedy" is that the communists returned with the help of the Soviet Kalashnikovs who supported them, and instead of peace, they continued where they left off on October 23: class struggle, proletarian dictatorship, party state, political prisons, executions.

Glory to the victims, respect to the resisters! he said.

The left does not understand that the country is not the same as Budapest

1956 was not a revolution of a city, but of the entire country, even the entire nation, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said. In his speech on the occasion of the commemoration day of the 1956 revolution and freedom struggle, at the ceremonial dedication of the Mindszentyneum building, the Prime Minister highlighted:

"according to the left, which looks down on us rural people, it is inappropriate" to celebrate in Zalaegerszeg, "as they say, only in Zalaegerszeg". They do not understand that Budapest is not the same as the country

he said.

Viktor Orbán praised the great figures of the Hungarian ecclesiastical world and stated that they are not only a point of alignment in matters of faith. The great Hungarian Catholic bishops were not only at the forefront of preaching the Gospel, but they also served "Mary's country, Hungary" with their guidance and actions in their lives and in their deaths, he said.

He emphasized that the greatest Hungarian church leaders always led the Hungarian people as prophets and "carried out the task of leading the country spiritually alongside the political leaders, or if needed - and often needed - instead of the political leaders." József Mindszenty was such a high priest, Viktor Orbán added.

Today we also remember the heroes of '56. For those Hungarians who, 66 years ago, showed what a true freedom-loving nation is like. The heroes were different, but they believed in one idea, a free Hungary, and therefore took all the risks.
