President of the Republic Katalin Novák will receive an official visit on Thursday by Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, according to TV2.

Following his re-election on October 9, Alexander Van der Bellen will receive the Hungarian head of state as his first official foreign guest. They added that the Hungarian president will be greeted with a military salute, and then the two heads of state will hold face-to-face and plenary talks, which will be followed by a joint press conference.

They noted that the meeting between the heads of state is particularly important, since the last Hungarian-Austrian presidential meeting was held in 2019, when János Áder paid an official visit to the Austrian head of state.

Katalin Novák's visit to Vienna is given special importance by the fact that it is being held two and a half weeks after Alexander Van der Bellen's re-election, during a period of dynamism in Hungarian-Austrian relations and high-level meetings.

The cooperation between the two countries is close on many points, as Austria is one of Hungary's most important economic partners and one of the largest capital investors in our country, they wrote on the tenyek.hu website.
