Positive trends can be seen in the Highlands thanks to the kindergarten program, the number of children enrolled in Hungarian kindergartens has increased, stated János Árpád Potápi, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for national policy, in Dunaszerdahely in the Highlands, where he gave a speech at the handover of the new Reformed kindergarten built as part of the Carpathian Basin Kindergarten Development Program on Friday.

The State Secretary for National Politics said at the ceremonial opening: the basic goal of starting the kindergarten program was to enroll all Hungarian children in Hungarian kindergartens, wherever they live in the Carpathian Basin. He pointed out that positive trends can now be seen, basically thanks to this program, the number of children enrolled in Hungarian kindergartens in the Uplands has increased in the recent period, and has not decreased anywhere, and in some places the number of children enrolled in Hungarian schools has also increased. He pointed out: it must be said that the phenomenon of assimilation is present in the Uplands, in addition to the scattered areas, in the block Hungarian areas, and this process can be stopped with the kindergarten program.

Children who are enrolled in a Hungarian kindergarten are most likely to choose a Hungarian school as well, and this is of outstanding importance from the point of view of preserving identity

- stated János Árpád Potápi. The kindergarten in Dunaszerdahely, named Hajnalcsillag, which was realized with an investment of around HUF 400 million, can accommodate 60 children. The institution will be operated by the Slovak Reformed Christian Church and the Dunaszerdahely Reformed Parish. In the Carpathian Basin, within the framework of the kindergarten development program, 770 institutions have been developed and renovated, and 153 new facilities have been built. Within the framework of the program, 30 new kindergartens and nurseries have been built or are being built in the Uplands, and 172 have been renovated with an investment of nearly HUF 13 billion. In this context, the State Secretary for National Policy highlighted that the number of institutions renovated and built within the framework of the program is not yet final, and is expected to approach a thousand in the Carpathian Basin.

We can be proud of the fact that we have achieved such results in the last 5-6 years - stated János Árpád Potápi. The Carpathian Basin kindergarten development program was approved by the Hungarian government in December 2016 and 2017. The program, which partly follows and partly runs parallel to the kindergarten and daycare development programs in Hungary,

Since Trianon, it is the largest investment affecting kindergartens across the border.

As part of this, the kindergarten and nursery school system throughout the Carpathian Basin will be renewed with resources of around HUF 40 billion. The program, which is already in its fourth phase, is scheduled to end at the end of 2022.
