"I can't understand what the hell a judge can talk about with an ambassador!" Schiffer burst out.
András Schiffer was a guest of Straight Speech. The former politician stated in the program: it is unacceptable for party representatives to instruct or threaten judges. According to Schiffer, in the case of György Budaházi, this was seen from both sides:
When György Budaházy was placed under house arrest, it was said, "Look, Fidesz wants to favor the Nazis!", and conversely, when György Budaházy was convicted, it was said, "Well, this is a Soros judge".
"The other side of this is that [...] there can be no doubt that the judge is impartial, [...] therefore judges must be very strict about what they can and cannot do. In response to the question, it is of course acceptable that a head of representation talks to the head of a constitutional, public-law institution entitled to representation," he explained.

Schiffer burst out. The lawyer added that
it is perfectly fine for an ambassador to seek information, unless he does so from judges.
In his justification, Schiffer explained: no, because "if someone is sincerely concerned about the rule of law, he should know exactly that I will not put a judge in such a situation as the head of the American embassy put those two judges!".
"If I, as an ambassador, hold the rule of law accountable and represent it, then I have to assume that a judge has nothing to say to me - that is, to the outside, outside the judicial building - about what the president of the curia, the president of the OBH, or the minister otherwise says.
Because it is quite a lot of power to be able to decide about other people's property and other people's freedom. A judge [...] has nothing to communicate to the outside," explained the lawyer.
"And if there is?" asked Egon Rónai.
NOTHING," Schiffer tied the knot.
Regarding the relevant articles of Origo and Magyar Nemzet, the lawyer explained: even if he thinks that these two judges made a mistake, "it is also a scandal that the pro-government press calls for judges to resign in a coordinated attack. It's the same scandal as the fact that a simple judge has no business in any embassy".
2022 Plus: Schiffer, as is typical of him, hits here and there. But what should the press have done? To keep the scandal quiet, to pretend that hey, or not? The publicists wrote their opinion that they think the judges should resign after the incident. Schiffer also explains why. So what's wrong with the pro-government press?
