The Festetics castle, designed by Mihály Pollack, now completely renovated inside and out, including its park, in Dég, Fejér County, has opened its doors - informed the NÖF National Heritage Protection Development Nonprofit Kft.

According to the announcement, within the framework of the National Castle Program and the National Castle Program, a total of HUF 3.361 billion was spent on the investment from domestic and EU funds.

As part of the development of one of the most important classicist castles in our country for tourism purposes, the renovation of most of the main building, the renovation of the park and the several annexes in it, and the modernization of the public utility system, as well as the creation of exhibition spaces, a museum shop and a café, were completed. Restoration and interior design work was also connected to the construction works.

At the exhibition on the ground floor of the castle, visitors can learn about the everyday life, interests and historical involvement of the Festetics family. In the botanical salon, you can see a taste of the natural science knowledge of the time, you can take a look at the drawers of Lajos Kossuth's original herbarium cabinet, and with the help of an interactive, four-season field table, you can learn about the history of the garden.

In the library room there is a presentation of architectural style, in the drawing room you can see a picture of the count's life, but the early 20th century bedroom and bathroom, the countess's Empire drawing room, the "garden room" and a period study await visitors in the building, where a separate chapter deals with the fate of the castle after 1945 and with the history of the children's home established there.

Freemasonry plays a prominent role in the upstairs exhibition, as the castle is connected to it in several ways: the builder, Antal Festetics, was a member of the order, the basement preserves the memory of the secret archive, and the English park is a splendid example of the symbolism they used. In the Dégi castle, which may have functioned as the domestic center of the movement, visitors can learn about the ceremonies and tools in an interactive and historically authentic way, or even look into the order's dictionary.

The renovated monument building and the English park await not only those looking for relaxation, but also those looking for a special event location. The complex can only be visited on site or in guided groups based on prior registration.
