The government continues to work to ensure that the Hungarian people receive the resources they are entitled to, said the Minister of Justice in connection with the amendment of the Act on Information Self-Determination and Freedom of Information, with which our country fulfilled another commitment to pay EU funds. According to Zoltán Lomnici Jr., there are already signs that the committee will come up with additional demands.

The Hungarian government took another step in order to reach an agreement with the European Commission (EC) on the EU funds due to our country. The amendment to the law on informational self-determination and freedom of information adopted by the Parliament on Wednesday, at the initiative of the European Commission, aims to speed up lawsuits aimed at obtaining information of public interest and creates the central information public data registry. Thus, on the interface accessible by anyone, the budgetary bodies and local and national governments publish their management data that is public and in the public interest. "We continue to work to ensure that the Hungarian people receive the resources they deserve," Justice Minister Judit Varga said in this regard when the motion was accepted.

As is well known, the government has taken several steps in recent months to facilitate the negotiations on the EU funds due to us. One of the most significant measures was the creation of the Integrity Authority, which will start operating by November 19 at the latest.

Regional Development Minister Tibor Navracsics said earlier that the 21-person committee consists of the president and ten members delegated by the government and ten members of the civil sector, whose task will be to assist the work of the Integrity Authority. He added that the commitment also guarantees the transparent use of EU support by public interest trust foundations. "Hungary has undertaken to apply a wide-ranging conflict of interest rule system formulated as a recommendation by the European Commission, but not applied in any member state until now," said the minister.

In response to our question as to whether, after the steps taken by the Hungarian government so far, the European Court of Justice can come up with another objection regarding the payment of EU funds, Zoltán Lomnici Jr. told our paper that, unfortunately, there are already signs of this. - The latest area of these is the independence of the judiciary, in connection with which expectations can easily arise, and it would not be surprising if the commitments accepted and implemented so far were accompanied by random checks and follow-up - said the constitutional lawyer.

The primary condition for the payment of the funds is a political agreement and stronger partner trust, so it can be predicted that there will be more requests from the European Commission, and the Hungarian government must first and foremost keep in mind the interests of the Hungarian citizens.

In other words, if new concerns or objections arise on the part of the Hungarian side, then the government and our national diplomacy must strive to establish a new - and faster result - bargaining balance in the given public law and organizational regulatory issues, as well as the EU funds that otherwise rightfully belong to our country for the sake of the success of the ongoing negotiations on its disbursement as soon as possible, said the constitutional lawyer.
