The energy sanctions imposed on Russia are weapons that "fired" on the contrary, and the European Commission must correct this mistake, said the Fidesz parliamentary faction leader on Monday in Nyírbogát, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county.
Máté Kocsis in Let's say no to sanctions! before the local event of the country tour series, he told MTI that the 11,000 sanctions imposed on Russia due to the war are the right decision, since some kind of countermeasure must be taken against an aggressor country, but it is not right that the country affected by the energy sanctions is profits and gets rich", but European citizens are ruined.
This mistake must be repaired, it cannot remain like this, it would be good if the European Commission would change its position - said Máté Kocsis.
Compared to the current penalties, it would be much more effective to limit trade in products that Russia needs to import.
The faction leader of the larger ruling party believed that everyone can see what is happening on the utility bills, everyone can see inflation and all the effects that follow from that. For the time being, it looks like the European citizens are mostly the victims of the war, and to a lesser extent Russia, against which the entire sanctions policy was created, he emphasized.
In connection with the national consultation, Máté Kocsis said that each forum is an opportunity to encourage everyone and participate in filling out the forms.
It is a political tool that can be used in European debates, and maybe the European Commission cannot do it to sweep the opinion of a few million Hungarians off the table - Máté Kocsis believed. We expect the union not to continue with these failed energy sanctions, because it will beat us all to death, it will beat European economies and the households of European citizens to death, said the leader of the Fidesz faction.
Simon Miklós, the parliamentary representative of Fidesz-KDNP, also participated in the forum.
