The National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) and the Association of Hungarian Farmers' Cooperatives and Farmers' Cooperatives (Magosz) drew attention in a statement on Wednesday to the fact that, according to the proposal presented to the town assembly in Hódmezővásárhely, all owners of fields, gardens, orchards and vineyards receive about 10,000 per hectare would have to pay HUF tax, while the historic drought, the protracted war situation, and the resulting uncontrolled input material and energy prices put farmers in an extremely difficult situation.

NAK and Magosz call on the general assembly of Hódmezővásárhely to reject the land tax that Mayor Péter Márki-Zay wants to introduce.

The former candidate for prime minister of the left would withdraw funds from the sector by taxing farmers, the introduction of the tax would also be felt by the customers, as it would affect the price of food and cause further price increases, they write in the announcement.

NAK and Magosz resolutely reject the tax imposed on farmers, and will act against it with all possible means, they emphasized in the joint statement.
