CÖF-CÖKA activists demonstrated in front of the old Eötvös József High School with the help of a molino, and during a press conference they sent a message to Brussels that the teachers are also waiting for the unjustly withheld EU funds in this extremely difficult period for the entire continent and call on the EU decision-makers to take immediate action.
"The Civil Solidarity Forum, as a defining national civil community - with the support of the intellectual patriots behind it, including students, teachers and parents - fully supports the demands of teachers and workers supporting teaching-educational work regarding salary arrangements and working conditions. At the same time, in the current war and inflationary situation, we consider the government's responsibility for managing the budget to be important, because it pays attention to the needs of all segments of society.
As a community organized around national values and interests, we consider it fundamental that the key to the rise of the nation and Hungary's successful future lies in the public education system operating under appropriate conditions, providing competitive knowledge, an indispensable element of which is the moral and financial appreciation of teachers. Therefore, education is our common, national cause, and the wage settlement in the world of public education is necessary, and in our opinion there must be a national consensus on this.
At the same time, the global crises of recent years have presented unprecedented challenges to countries, causing serious budgetary difficulties everywhere. As a result, in addition to national resources, the inclusion of EU funds due to Hungary as a full member of the European Union is essential for the settlement of teacher salaries and the modernization of the education system. However, Brussels withholds these resources from our country citing ideological contentions, not caring about the teachers' circumstances.
We believe that in difficult moments there is a need to unite and support each other, which is why we felt it our duty to draw the attention of European officials to the situation of teachers and the workers who support the teaching-educational work with our movement today, so that the Brussels elite finally hears the EU's the voice of the citizenry and to act as responsible decision-makers instead of politically charged dragnets.
Today, in a symbolic location, in front of the old Eötvös József High School, we are demonstrating our message and our intention in a press conference with the help of a molino, so that the voices of national citizens are heard in Brussels and they are aware that the unjustly withheld EU funds are also expected by the teachers. , in an extremely difficult period for the entire continent and we call on the EU decision-makers to act immediately." - wrote CÖF-CÖKA in its announcement.
